A Heist at Victoria & Ashok Museum Confession

Nirmala's Confession

"I got a tip from Rajiv. The diamond was going to be revalued to 100 million GBP on Monday. That's more than our entire fund!We were the previous insurers of the diamond. We had valued it and then insured it. This had caused us to get many reputable museum clients. Once the new valuation of 100 million GBP is out, we would not only lose the Ratanraj diamond but also get our other existing clients questioning our valuations. And the thing is... my success wasn't purely hardwork.
You know what I mean. Keith & Co. would lose a lot more of clients for sure.

So I had to do something about it. It was more about damage control. The diamond's rifd tag wasn't working, which would take 7-10 days. The diamond is going to be worth 100 million, and currently the insurance of 30 million is not renewed yet. So if I steal it, I can sell it for 100 million GBP and Keith & Co wouldn't have to pay 30 million as well. They know how to avoid paying insurance. So even if I am kicked out later, I will be anyways rich.

I knew Sumit, the museum's chief security officer. I called him up on 29th Oct and offered him a bribe to cut out the lights for a while at 8:00 pm. I knew the diamond and other exhibits are going to be unsecured. It was easy to get the map of the museum. Stealing that diamond was going to be easy. The hardest part was getting it out. That's when it struck me.

Rhea wanted investment in her firm very badly. Maybe I could tell her I will invest in her company if she helps me with this. That's how the brilliant plan was laid out. I would throw out the diamond from the window, where Rhea will be waiting to collect it. She will hide it in her bag/coat... and head to the Tube. She will drop it at an abandoned trash chute I know of at Green Park station, and head back to her home from there.

Everything was perfect except the rifd tag was miraculously working again? And whoever did that murder. I honestly didn't expect either of it to happen!"

"Kalyug. It's all Kalyug. It's a well known fact that my great grandfather had the Ratanraj diamond forcefully stolen from him by Karan's grandfather. People have written books, published articles... there's enough evidence in the history. And yet, the case I have fought for over the last 8 years I lost. The court verdict said I don't have a claim on the diamond. Kalyug.

Over the years, I have protested and fought to get justice to the people affected by the horrors of the Partition, including mine. Karan pulled the strings of his influence to sway the court's decision.

I felt very angry. It was that sort of bitter unjust anger that burns in your heart day & night - making your life miserable.

Upon that, he sent me an invitation to the gala to see the diamond! Let me tell you. My blood boiled in my veins when I read that. What a disgustingly vile man one had to be...

But I still have my pride. So I went. I didn't miss the opportunity to protest & verbally fight with him. But throughout the gala, I knew this time's anger was different. It wasn't anger, it was pure white rage.

The lights went off when he was close by to the Pavithra dagger's display. I was eyeing him the whole time. The moment lights went off, it felt like a natural instinct to grab that dagger and drive through his heart. He didn't even get time to register. But neither did I. I realised what I had done after a bit. I knew I had to do something quickly because there would be blood traces on me. So I waited for the lights to turn on, and then quickly pretended to trip on his body & act shocked.

I knew I was doomed the second I put the dagger in him. But I now know why the diamond is cursed."
